Royal Wedding Fun

It was a Friday. It was a no school day. It was the Royal Wedding. What better way to celebrate and watch the wedding than with delicious food and drink. Cooper's American Girl Magazine had 5 different recipes for muffins mixed and match with fruit, cream cheese, and chocolate. We had to give them all a try. We made plenty to share. Since the wedding aired early in the morning we recorded it to watch later. The girls will hopefully remember this all one day and share the story with their kids.

Cheers! To the Royal Couple!

Giddy Up

Chad and I attended the Powercat Auction tonight. The theme this year was Boots & Hats. Everyone was given a cowboy hat as a souvenir. The girls loved the hats and had to try them on right away. Here are our cowgirls.

Everyday Hero

Cooper joined other classmates with her teacher Mrs. N and participated in the Everyday Hero program at Meadowlark. The students share their talents, interests, or just tell a story or a joke for the residents there. It was a small group this semester, but Cooper didn't mind. She loves to perform for an audience and did so well.

Zoo Field Trip

One of the many great advantages to being a stay at home mom is the opportunity to go on class field trips. Campbell's preschool class took a field trip today to the Sunset Zoo. There was time for information about animals, animal skins, and animal bones. Time to walk around the zoo and visit the animals. Time to play on the playground equipment. Time for a snack and drink. It was a great field trip and all the kids enjoyed the visit.

Coloring Eggs

Chad always helps the girls color eggs at Easter. Today was no different. After the prep work of newspaper, cups of color/water/vinegar, stickers/cutouts/crayons, and two excited girls; it was time to color the eggs. Both did a very colorful job and enjoyed the moment with dad.

Look at those happy girls.

Easter

The Easter Bunny made at stop at our house and the girls were delighted with their treasures. The baskets were filled with treats, toys, and items each was wishing for. After the baskets were opened they noticed the yard was filled with eggs, so they quickly put on shoes and ran outside. It was a brisk morning and the grass was wet with dew, so after a change of shoes, back out they went. Each girl found a basket full of eggs and laughed the entire time they were hunting for eggs.

Pat turns 30

We traveled to Herington to celebrate Pat's 30th birthday in true 80's style. Kelly and Pat had great outfits. Pat's family traveled down to join in the fun as well. The DJ spun 80's tunes all night long and Pat had a great time. Happy Birthday Pat!

Spring Music Festival

Cooper has been playing the flute since Spring 2010 and loves it. She was excited for the opportunity to play for an audience at the Spring Music Festival. She recruited her friend, Julianne, to play a duet with her to the song, "William Tell Overture." Julianne played the piano, while Cooper played the flute.

The Spring Music Festival is a contest among school age students either playing an instrument or singing. It is judged and winners earn a prize. We didn't know this going into the Festival and once the girls heard the news, they were a bit nervous. After it set in though, they got excited and wanted to win. They were the youngest participants in the Festival. They did a splendid job on their performance. In the end Cooper's flute instructor had told the judges that her students were not part of the contest and would only be playing for practice, so the girls were disappointed to not be judged. What a whirlwind of emotions. The applause and reception from the crowd was enough of a reward and they certainly earned it. Good job girls!

Fort

A couple of years ago, while "Uncle Trice" was babysitting the girls for us, he made them a fort. Not just any ordinary fort. No, the fort of all forts. He moved furniture around, used all the blankets and pillows we had, and it stayed up for days. Well it's no wonder why the girls love to make forts now, and they beg to be able to sleep in them at night. So this was their lucky night.

Tea Party

What better way to spend an afternoon than at a tea party. Campbell is the best hostess. With the table set and delicious tea brewed, it was an event not to be missed. We enjoyed our mommy/daughter time today.

This tea is delicious. Thanks!

New Haircut

Giving up the idea of growing my hair out (3 years of trying) and finally gave into a new hairstyle. Here's hoping it works some magic.

Bike Ride

The weather is warming up, so the girls wanted to enjoy a bike ride. Cooper finally getting to break in her new bike (from birthday in November) and Campbell finally getting to test out the training wheels Papa Mike put on Campbell's new bike (aka Cooper's old bike). They had fun riding in circles in the driveway.
