Decorating the Tree

In true Lohman Tradition. We hit the coffee shop for breakfast. Went to Nespor's to decorate the store for the holidays. It was the first Sunday liquor stores could be open in Manhattan, so we had to hurry. Then we hit the Christmas tree lot to find the "perfect" tree. Every time that perfect tree gets home it ends up being crooked and the topper is always too heavy. Oh well, we always make it work. After some lunch and a nap. We started to decorate the tree. The girls enjoy getting out all the ornaments and Cooper was telling Campbell all the stories about ornaments that were important to her. It was great to hear! Without much fighting we finished in record time and the tree and house look great. Now if we could just talk Chad into putting up the lights on the outside of the house!

Eating Cheetos

The girls (and the cat) enjoying Thanksgiving.

Seafood Extravaganza = Thanksgiving Dinner

  • Brie, a cashew, & red currant jelly in a pastry shell
  • Shrimp wontons
  • Bacon wrapped scallops with avocado in lettuce wraps
  • Peel & eat shrimp
  • Cheddar bay biscuits
  • Crab legs
  • Lobster tail
  • Crab cakes
Yes, this was our Thanksgiving Meal. A day of heavy appetizers throughout the entire day. A day of staying in my pj's, drinking hot chocolate, and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. That evening I took the girls and went to my sister's house. Black Friday shopping began at 1am! Yes, we left Herington at 1am and arrived in Wichita at 2:30am. We shopped, shopped, and shopped some more. We arrived back in Herington at 3pm. The drive back home to Manhattan was brutal. I was very tired and ready for sleep when we arrived home. It was a great holiday!

A Kansas City Weekend

My mom and my sister were kind enough to take the girls for the weekend so Chad and I could go to Kansas City. We were looking forward to some time in the city to enjoy the holiday lights, good food, and of course some shopping. Friday night we had a wedding reception to go to for a friend of mine from school. Afterward we met up with Trice at Kites before heading back to his place in Lawrence. Saturday we hit the Plaza right before lunchtime. We beat the rush at PF Changs and enjoyed some delish food. We walked around the Plaza taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Then it was time to head to see "Wicked" the broadway play. It was amazing!! The play tells the story of how the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz became Wicked and also how Glenda the Good Witch was actually her friend. The theater was packed. I was so glad we were able to go. Afterward we went back to the Plaza to do some more shopping. I was excited to find my dress for our Anniversary party in February. We then enjoyed a very fine dinner at The Capital Grille. On Sunday we headed back to Manhattan, just in time for my afternoon movie to "New Moon" with my sis, her hubby, and all the girl friends. The movie was so much better than Twilight. It made me want to go back and read the books all over again. It was a fantastic weekend. Thanks mom & Kelly for babysitting!

Lohman Family Estate - Campbell's Cabernet is here!

Finally, after waiting what seemed like FOREVER, the Lohman Family Estate Cabernet has arrived. This is Campbell's wine. The label is fantastic. The romance is beautiful. And the wine is tasty and can use some time to age. Of course you may purchase this wine at Nespor's. The price tag is higher than the last 2 LFE wines, but well worth the cost. Enjoy!

Back in Kansas

A good friend, Carrie, and her new son, Nolan, stopped by for a visit the day of Cooper's birthday party. Her hubby, John, took their two daughters to the K-State football game. Carrie and John have recently moved back to KS from Texas. Carrie and I went to college together, she was in our wedding, and along with Jura, we've had some fun times together. It was so great to see her and we are so glad they are back home again. See you more often now!

Cooper's 7th Birthday Party

Cooper's 7th Birthday party couldn't have been on a more perfect weather day. You can tell from the clothes that it was warm, the kids loved playing outside, while the adults enjoyed visiting with each other. It was a great family party. We didn't have a "friend" party, as her gift this year was to redecorate her bedroom and it was a very busy weekend with the family party and then on Sunday we hosted the Nespor's Holiday Wine Tasting. And now since Cooper is 7, she can help me work the wine tasting at the front door. She was so excited! It was great to have everyone here. Cooper really enjoyed her day and all her gifts. Thanks everyone!

Birthday Girl

Our Cooper Maya is 7 years old today! Wow, how time flies. She has waited so long to be 7. We took chocolate cupcakes (no frosting) up to her school today before lunch, stayed for lunch with her, and then some indoor recess play time (it was raining). Tonight is her choice for dinner out. HuHot it is and then off to a movie, Where the Wild Things Are. Family lunch and party on Saturday. Hope she can wait that long. Hope it's a great day Cooper. Love you lots my little button nose.
