Work Function
My office is celebrating 20 years of business this weekend. Complete with community hog roast, a golf outing, and an employee/spouse dinner. While I have only been working there 3 months, there is a lot of responsibility falling on my shoulders. It will be a busy weekend.

School Fitness Challenge
A big "Thank You" to Papa Mike & Grandma ReRe for coming down to watch Cooper & Campbell while we are gone to Boston. They deserve an even bigger Thank You for taking the girls to the School Fitness Challenge. This is a running event in which kids from all the schools in town can choose a distance to run in and everyone comes out to show their support for their school and runs. The school with the most participants earns money for their PE program.
Both Cooper and Campbell chose to run in it, which meant Papa & Grandma had to fight their way through the crowds of people to get the girls to the run. In the end everyone enjoyed themselves and the girls got a medal, water bottle, and a big congrats at the end of the run.

Craft Show Tradition
Each year on the third Saturday in September there is a gigantic craft show held in Hillsboro, KS. Since September 2001 my sister and I have attended this craft show. It has become our tradition. Some years we have brought kids, family, and even friends along. It is without question that we will attend.
This year my sister, Kelly, had one thing to do before the craft show. She ran her first 5K. With great delight and pride she finished her 5K and held true to her promise to attend the craft show with me. It's just our thing to do and I look forward to this day each year.

KSU football tailgate
Our good friends, The Watson's, traveled to Manhattan this weekend to attend the first KSU football game of the season. While this first game is usually on Labor Day weekend, it means a lot for our town. The start of the college semester, new people = new money to town, and lots of weekend traffic for the game.
We did our best to provide the Watson's with a real true tailgate experience. Complete with the Kansas heat, the noise of the crazy fans, the smells of the parking lot, and the tastes of football foods. Tailgating is definitely a sport in itself and made for very patient and prepared people.
