Saying Goodbye

On May 25th, we said goodbye to our good friends The Leuci's. They came into our lives in August 2003, as we were searching for childcare for Cooper, who at the time was only 10 months old. Dena answered the call, as she was looking for a playmate for her son, "little Chad" (since our family has "big" Chad) and the fit couldn't have been more perfect. Chad dropped Cooper off at Ms. Dena's house each morning and she and "little Chad" would play the day away as I began teaching 4th grade that year. And then I would pick Cooper up on my way home and hear all about her day and see Ms. Dena's new hairdo she just completed. Ms. Dena was brave enough to take Chad & Cooper to gymnastics class. She also enrolled them in MOP (Morning Out for Parents) and then onto 2 day a week preschool together. Chad and Cooper were each others shadows. Through many birthday parties, field trips, playdates, and holidays we enjoyed having an extended family and knowing that Cooper was safe and enjoying her days away from mom & dad. Dena also took on "baby Campbell" as little Chad still calls her, when she arrived in 2007. That was also the year I stopped teaching to stay home with the girls since it was Cooper's last year before Kindergarten. This is when Dena's oldest daughter, April took on the babysitting task. She would watch the girls on our weekends out and then also through the summer. The girls enjoyed April's attention as she took them to the pool, gymnastics, the zoo, or the park. Campbell really became attached to April and will miss her so much!

So on this day we took "little Chad" out for lunch. His choice, McDonald's. The kids ate and played. Cooper made him a scrapbook of pictures of those two and then we said goodbye to the rest of the family.

We wish them luck and hope they feel at home back in Alabama. Thanks Leuci's for all your care and help the past 6 years! We will miss you all.

We are getting ready to have to say goodbye to some of our friends too. I was so sad for Karsyn to leave her preschool. I just loved it!
